Chattanooga Historical Renovation and Remodeling

by Mark Holton on February 13, 2011

Holton Construction has completed several major  renovations on local Historic homes in the Chattanooga area.  We have performed everything from simple repairs to complex foundation rebuilds.  We take care to research the way the structure was built, and the materials used to build it.  Matching materials can be a daunting task.  Many materials used in the 18th, 19th centuries were of much better quality and are not readily available today.  Some materials were often milled and installed on the same day from green locally grown trees, or from stone quarried from a neighborhood quarry that no longer exists .  We take care to ensure that any repair, addition or renovation matches the existing structure in color, texture, appearance and intent.  We are skilled in the use of period masonry mortars, and techniques; plaster and stucco repairs;  Epoxy systems for the rebuilding of irreplacable wood or other decorative or structural elements of the house; window sash repair and renovations,  specialty foundation repairs with seismic and HUD approved supports.  We are skilled at salvage and restoration of key elements of a structure, much of which can never be duplicated.
